Quality Control for CNC Machining Services in MS

As a full-service machine shop, we cover multiple aspects of the production process under the intense scrutiny of our quality control protocols. Our QA program is ISO-compliant, and we have AS9100 certification status pending. With these policies, we can effectively spot any errors in the production process and correct them long before the delivery of your parts or prototypes.

Implementing Quality Control and Cost Efficiency

The more factors involved in quality control, the higher the costs will be in most cases, but K&S strives to maintain quality without making the process needlessly costly. Tight tolerances, for example, are often required in aviation, defense, energy, and other industries that are highly regulated with complex components. Sometimes, however, tight tolerances are not strictly necessary for the intended end-use of the part.

Our team of engineers will analyze your drawings to determine if there are any areas where tighter tolerances aren’t strictly necessary. Many parts require tight tolerances, and we have the machines to handle that production with precision, but some parts could be looser than you might expect.

In-House CNC Machining Equipment

Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to offer premium precision in our low-volume production runs and prototyping, so your company can compete in the intense Mississippi market. We have 4-axis CNC turning centers that work alongside our milling centers to maintain consistency and precision in every job. Our five milling centers can work with several different materials, including plastic, aluminum, steel, brass, and more exotic materials like rhodium, which is common in the automotive industry.

In the oil and gas industry, parts like valves, connectors, and nozzles are often subjected to harsh environments. They need to withstand consistent exposure to chemicals, high pressures, and extreme temperatures. At K&S Machining, our versatility allows customers to select the optimal material for their specific application, such as composite materials in addition to more common metals and plastics.

Some projects do not fit in the envelope of our lathes or mills, so we have a ShopSabre PRO 408 router with a large work envelope and vacuum bed. This incredible machine can handle full-size plates and sheets of steel, aluminum, composite, and other materials. The size of our router additionally offers pre-processing of raw materials that can then be machined further by our mills and lathes.

Mississippi’s Rapid Industrial Growth

Mississippi got a late industrial start relative to most other states in the Gulf Coast region, but it has made up for lost time. Late 19th century Mississippi was largely absent of sizable industries apart from lumber, but that changed significantly by 1920 once the state implemented tax breaks for factories and other manufacturing facilities.

In the century since, Mississippi has become a national leader in defense, automotive, and more. Shipbuilding is especially popular given that 70% of the U.S. Navy’s fleet of warships was built in Mississippi. K&S Machining has the expertise and technology necessary for companies to remain competitive in this ever-growing market. The state’s manufacturing sector produces billions in output, and K&S Machining works to help you enjoy that growth while keeping your costs as low as possible without sacrificing quality.
